Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. in Entomology, or related field.
Position Summary
The appointee will develop a strong, extramurally funded research and extension program to support tree nut production with opportunities to pursue work in complementary model systems. With an annual farmgate value exceeding $350 million, Georgia growers currently lead the nation in pecan production. The position has enjoyed a history of strong funding support from the Georgia Pecan Commission and allied industries. Research efforts should integrate levels of biological organization such as population/community ecology, biological control, and insect ecology to improve pest management. Extension activities should improve sustainable and profitable production systems. Mentorship and training of graduate students is a key responsibility of the position.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
A strong background of relevant course work and a strong record of scholarly achievement.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Excellent communication skills. Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas including chemical ecology, toxicology, landscape ecology, resistance management or integration of agricultural systems is highly desirable.
